art project

The ArtQuake festival was the concluding event for the project carrying the same name, which was held on the 10th and 11th April 2007 at the Circolo degli Artisti in Rome.

The stage witnessed performances from different breakthrough roman bands, along with artists coming from Malta, Lithuania, France and Spain.

Varied and diverse music genres were presented during the festival, ranging from the light acoustic sonorities offered by DLM, Philakoè and Simone Cardini, to the metal of Fifth Sphere, passing onto the rock-punk of Fallo Felice and Raccon Balls, the psychedelic atmosphere of Halesia, the dreamy rock of Reversense, the grunge of Soundust and the unstoppable rhythm of the Spanish band Nada el Respecto. Almost all of the bands presented their own original material. What to say? An eclectic choice was indeed at hand!

On the 10th the match between Manchester and Rome was viewed on big screen. On that same night, the Maltese group Penny in a Hat gave a musical performance rich of plot twists and impressive singing.

The night of the 11th saw the common performance, put up by 30 youths who took part in the European exchange by the name Y.E.A.H. [Young European Art Heritage], under the direction of Michele Bellucci. The group, who stayed in Rome for 10 days, presented a very particular artistic performance through which various disciplines were explored, such as dancing, theatre and music. Various areas of the Circolo were used for this performance, mainly the entrance area, the garden and indoors. In this way, the Circolo transformed itself into a huge stage on which even audiences can participate.

That night, the festival had the pleasure of having the Wogiagia Crew, winners of the 2006 1st May festival apart from being a well renowned roman band, as special guests. All of the live performances were recorded and made into a double CD with special extras and contributions regarding the festival.

There was no entrance fee and the shows were put up between 6pm and 12.30am, having a great turnout.

During the two days there was a stand belonging to the free press newspaper Meltin’ Pot; a journalistic activity found in roman universities offering a fresh product and very attentive to detail.

For all that was done haphazardly, we say that practice makes perfect! There is nothing more left to say than to wish you a pleasant visual and auditory journey!
